We are proud to have successfully delivered our first Driver CPC course ‘Driver Essentials’ on Monday 30th November 2009. Held at our Burlington House premises, Wellingborough Road, Northampton, employees (and directors) from Goddard Warehousing, Higgins Builders Merchants & Kettering Textiles Ltd successfully gained their first 7 hours of JAUPT Approved training, contributry towards their required 35 hours over the next 5 years.

Our newly refurbished training room offered a comfortable and accomodating environment for John Gibson, LGV Trainers, Driver CPC Manager, to deliver one of 5 courses he has spent the last 6 months developing and submitting for JAUPT approval.

Refreshments and lunch were supported by Banjos Catering of Northampton, offering our customers a healthy bite to eat in between John delivering the approved course content.

Our next Driver CPC course is booked in for 30th December 2009, being delivered to the 12 drivers of S. T. Challis, Specialist Heavy Hauliers of Badby, Daventry.  The same course is set to be delivered, albeit to a slightly larger group, which we intend to be our maximum, to ensure our expected high quality of training is sustained.

Our practical training site, including manouvering area is now based at:

LGV Trainers C/O Dalepak, Unit 47, Caswell Road, Brackmills, Northampton, NN4 7PW

The new site offers 7 day access along with lighting suitable for evening training aswell as secure parking for our training vehicles and customer cars.

Our concrete manouvering area is marked out to suit the dimensions as demonstrated at Weedon Testing Station, by the Driving Standards Agency, 330ft in length x 60ft in width.

We are currently working towards offering an onsite office facility at Caswell Road, as a meeting point and candidate briefing room aswell as a more suitable base for our instructors to work from throughout the training day.

As always, our main office for customer visits and classroom based training is based at Burlington House, 369 Wellingborough Road, Northampton, NN1 4EU.

Having sourced a well cared for, one owner Mercedes Vito 2.8 ton van, we have added the final category of training to our services.  Coupled to a curtainside/box twin axle trailer, supplied by AE Services, Earls Barton, Northampton, customers are now able to upgrade their standard category B (3.5 ton) driving licence to B+E, enabling correct licencing to drive GTW combinations up to 6.3 tonne (subject to vehicle suitability).

Throughout the summer of 2009 we have successfully progressed local horsebox owners, landscapers, builders & motorsport enthusiasts through their training and DSA practical tests.

Generally, training is offered to customers on a solo basis, giving a full 8 hour day, followed by a further 2 hours next day and test appointment usually around 10am-11am at local testing station, Weedon, Northants.

We also have availability of smaller trailers (supplied by Indespension) to couple to the Mercedes, catering for customers who may struggle with manouvering and handling the larger curtainside box.
