Theory test consisting of 100 multiple choice questions & 19 hazard perception clips.
Pass mark for multiple choice test is 85 and 50 for hazard pereception
These tests can be taken together or seperately, with a total duration of 2.5 hours.
Both tests must be passed before you can take Module 3, the on road practical element of the driving test.

Case Studies
In addition to passing module 1 (LGV Theory Tests), to obtain your Driver CPC, you will also need to pass module 2. This module is a computer based test and uses case studies, each one based on real-life scenarios you may encounter in your working life as an LGV driver.
This module aims to test your knowledge and how you put theory into practice. Questions will be based around the case study and you will be asked to answer in a number of different ways, such as multiple choice answers, clicking an area on an image or typing a short answer.
Each test will be made up of 7 case studies, each consisting of 6-8 questions, with a possible maximum score of 50 (of which the pass mark is 38)
You are allowed 90 minutes to complete the test and it is held at the same centre as module 1

LGV Driving Instructor
Jeffrey sat his initial commercial driving test in the Royal Navy, 1967, progressing onto full LGV C+E entitlement in 1972.
From 1985 through to 1989, Jeffrey was responsible for the movement of Hazardous Goods through the Tyne Tunnel, Newcastle, before moving to northampton to continue his commercial driving career.
Jeffrey’s sensitive and sympathetic approach ensures our customer needs are always met in the delvery of our training. With his career as an LGV Instructor beginning in 1990 with LGV Trainers, Jeffrey has gained a wealth of training experience across a broad range of licence categories, including;

A Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) that is over 7.5 tonne combined with a trailer over 750kg. Commonly referred to as the ‘old HGV Class 1′ or ‘Artic Licence’.

You must pass your Category C practical test before progressing to Category C+E.
If you are aged 18 or over, you will need to pass your Category C1 or LGV C test. This mirrors the LGV Category course & test structure (please see below). Recently, change in legslation now allows customers at the age of 18 to go directly to LGV Category C with no need to sit the sub-category C1 test.

You can drive a motor vehicle with a gross weight not exceeding 3.5 tonnes with a trailer up to 750kg. To tow a trailer greater than 750kg, the gross weight of the trailer must not exceed the unladen mass of the actual towing vehicle nor exceed 3.5 tonne combination weight.
Should your requirement exceed the above constraints, you must pass the DSA category B+E driving test. You will not need to sit a further theory test or medical. You will then be entitled to drive gross weight vehicle & trailer combinations of more than 3.5 tonne.
We are proud to have successfully delivered our first Driver CPC course ‘Driver Essentials’ on Monday 30th November 2009. Held at our Burlington House premises, Wellingborough Road, Northampton, employees (and directors) from Goddard Warehousing, Higgins Builders Merchants & Kettering Textiles Ltd successfully gained their first 7 hours of JAUPT Approved training, contributry towards their required 35 hours over the next 5 years.
Our newly refurbished training room offered a comfortable and accomodating environment for John Gibson, LGV Trainers, Driver CPC Manager, to deliver one of 5 courses he has spent the last 6 months developing and submitting for JAUPT approval.
Refreshments and lunch were supported by Banjos Catering of Northampton, offering our customers a healthy bite to eat in between John delivering the approved course content.
Our next Driver CPC course is booked in for 30th December 2009, being delivered to the 12 drivers of S. T. Challis, Specialist Heavy Hauliers of Badby, Daventry. The same course is set to be delivered, albeit to a slightly larger group, which we intend to be our maximum, to ensure our expected high quality of training is sustained.

The new site offers 7 day access along with lighting suitable for evening training aswell as secure parking for our training vehicles and customer cars.
Our concrete manouvering area is marked out to suit the dimensions as demonstrated at Weedon Testing Station, by the Driving Standards Agency, 330ft in length x 60ft in width.
We are currently working towards offering an onsite office facility at Caswell Road, as a meeting point and candidate briefing room aswell as a more suitable base for our instructors to work from throughout the training day.
As always, our main office for customer visits and classroom based training is based at Burlington House, 369 Wellingborough Road, Northampton, NN1 4EU.
Having sourced a well cared for, one owner Mercedes Vito 2.8 ton van, we have added the final category of training to our services. Coupled to a curtainside/box twin axle trailer, supplied by AE Services, Earls Barton, Northampton, customers are now able to upgrade their standard category B (3.5 ton) driving licence to B+E, enabling correct licencing to drive GTW combinations up to 6.3 tonne (subject to vehicle suitability).
Throughout the summer of 2009 we have successfully progressed local horsebox owners, landscapers, builders & motorsport enthusiasts through their training and DSA practical tests.
Generally, training is offered to customers on a solo basis, giving a full 8 hour day, followed by a further 2 hours next day and test appointment usually around 10am-11am at local testing station, Weedon, Northants.
We also have availability of smaller trailers (supplied by Indespension) to couple to the Mercedes, catering for customers who may struggle with manouvering and handling the larger curtainside box.
