What licence do I need to hold to start training?

It all depends on the category you currently hold and what you would like to obtain.

A category B car licence entitles you to start training Categories C1, C or C+E.

A category C licence holder automatically holds C+E provisional entitlement.

How old do I have to be to start training Cat C?

You need to be 18 or over.

What steps to I have to take to gain my Cat C or C+E

You must complete the following steps:

- Undertake a medical and then exchange your licence to add provisional entitlement.

- Then you will complete a Multiple Choice Theory Test and a Hazard Perception tests.

- You will also complete a 1 hour driving assessment this will allow us to ensure you undertake the right level of training.

- Once the theory tests are passed you will undertake your practical training, this is usually a block of 5 to 8 days with your practical test on the last day.

Which CPC do I need to complete?

Just answer the following questions:

Do you have Category C1 (7.5t) on your licence?

Yes

If you obtained C1 before 10th Sept 2009 the you need to complete CPC Periodic training.  If you obtained it after 9th  Sept 2009 then you need to complete the Initial Qualification

No

Then you need to complete the Initial Qualification

How do I get started with training?

You can come in to the office or give us a call and we can start the process. Category C or C+E can be started with an initial deposit with final payment 2 weeks prior to practical training.

Do I need to do Cat C before C+E?

No, the law was changed in November 2022, you no longer need to obtain Cat C first, once you pass your CE your licence will automatically receive categories C1, C entitlement.

Do you offer refresher training for Qualified drivers?

Yes we do! We offer a few options for qualified drivers in particular Cat C and CE holders. We can undertake short assessments, reversing and manoeuvring and on road refresher training.  All out instructors have worked in the driving industry and are experienced at evaluating skills need to be safe and successful in the transport industry.
